//DESCRIPTION
Show the World Your Existence is a site-specific installation created for Eppure è altro, a two-person exhibition with Marta Perroni at UnoBis in Padua, curated by Marta Ferrara as part of the Living Rooms programme.
Using the filet crochet technique, the work transforms the entrance to the exhibition space into a large-scale textile threshold bearing the phrase “Show the world your existence.”
Visitors are invited to physically pass through the work, turning the act of entering the exhibition into an affirmation of presence and visibility.
The statement recalls the visual language of protest banners and resonates with the disability rights principle “Nothing about us without us,” which became central to disability activism from the 1970s onwards.
At the same time, the fragility and permeability of the textile contrast with the industrial architecture of UnoBis.
Rather than celebrating power, permanence, or historical victory, the installation operates as a kind of anti-monument: an ephemeral architecture dedicated to bodies, experiences, and histories that have often remained at the margins.
Here, textile becomes both a political language and a means of reclaiming space, transforming the threshold into a site where visibility itself becomes an act of resistance.
