UN DESIDERIO IN CINQUE PAROLE /IL GIOCO DELLA CAMPANA

Gioco della Campana and Un desiderio in cinque parole are collective works developed during a workshop led by Cesare Pietroiusti in connection with his retrospective exhibition Un certo numero di cose 1955–2019 at MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna.

The exhibition brought together artworks, archival materials, and personal objects from Pietroiusti’s practice, focusing on questions of co-authorship, repetition, circulation, and reproducibility.

Within this framework, the workshop extended the retrospective into a shared process, inviting a group of artists to reinterpret its methods and conceptual premises through the production of new works.

A third chapter of the project was presented on 25 January 2025 at MADRE Museum in Naples, with Cesare Pietroiusti and the participating artists Carmen Buonanno, Alessia Canelli, Benedetta De Rosa, Irene Galuppo, Irene Macalli, Marta Perroni, and Miho Tanaka.

Rather than treating the artwork as a fixed object produced by a single author, the project approached artistic practice as a transferable and transformable method.

Through collaboration, interpretation, and exchange, the works became part of an ongoing process in which authorship, repetition, and collective production could be continuously renegotiated.
